End of the World — Dumbasses Swarm Mayan Temple Before 12/21/12

Dumbasses Swarm Mayan Temple Before 12/21/12

End of the World News

And now a new TMZ game … SPOT THE DOPES!!!

Here we have a photo taken today at El Castillo in Mexico — otherwise known as the Temple of Kukulkan, a Mayan structure built some time between the 9th and 12th centuries AD to honor the snake god Kukulkan.

Somewhere hidden in the photo are hundreds of idiots waiting to catch a glimpse of Kukulkan before the Mayan apocalypse, scheduled to occur tomorrow … December 21st 2012. See if you can spot ‘em!

The temple usually attracts a decent crowd during the solstice, but this is ridiculous.

On a more serious note: It was nice knowing all of you.

Robert Griffin III ‘ready to go’ for Washington Redskins

Posted on Dec 21, 2012

Robert Griffin III fully practiced Wednesday, with’s Albert Breer reporting the rookie quarterback was expected to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan cautioned that the team would see how Griffin responded Thursday before getting too optimistic. It’s safe to be optimistic now.

Griffin fully practiced again, and Shanahan confirmed there were no problems. Griffin hasn’t been officially “cleared” yet, but Shanahan expects the quarterback to start.

“If there’s no setback, doctors feel he’ll be ready to go,” Shanahan said.

RG3 will be given the choice to wear a knee brace against the modestly improving Eagles defense.

Kris Jenkins, former New York Jet, blasts Mark Sanchez

Posted on Dec 20, 2012

We now enter the portion of the New York Jets discussion where everyone blames Mark Sanchez and his deplorable season for all of the franchise’s ills.

On Wednesday night, it was former Jets teammate Kris Jenkins’ turn on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL.”

“What Sanchez has to take responsibility for is during the time that he could have gotten better he wanted to sit back,” said Jenkins, who played with Sanchez in 2009-10, via the New York Post. “He wanted to pose for magazines, worry about his haircuts and do all of that stuff… I’m just saying, from what I saw him do, it was a lot better than what it is now. But he coasted. They coddled him. That was what was going on.”

The “coddle theory” isn’t exactly new. The Jets’ handling of their supposed franchise quarterback has been questioned since the team was on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” in 2010, Sanchez’s second NFL season. The team also jettisoned offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in part because Sanchez’s improvement stalled. Then there was that Tim Tebow debacle.

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that the Jets would try and trade Sanchez in the offseason. Jenkins said the Jets have no choice.

Lombardi: Jets must get honest

“I think that if you leave Sanchez in that locker room he is going to become a bad apple … And the locker room has been fragile for the past two years,” Jenkins said.

This isn’t the first time the former Pro Bowl nose tackle has taken shots at Jets players. We’d be amiss, however, not to point out that Jenkins himself was largely a bust after the Jets traded two draft picks to the Carolina Panthers for him in 2008, then gave him a new five-year, $35 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. He spent much of the final two seasons in New York on injured reserve with anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

When asked where he saw the Jets going from this point, Jenkins didn’t mince words.

“Nowhere. It is done. Stick a fork in them,” he said.

Don’t worry, Kris, we already did.

Robert Griffin III expected to start for Washington Redskins

Posted on Dec 20, 2012

The Washington Redskins expect Robert Griffin III to start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, barring any setbacks, according to sources briefed on the rookie quarterback’s medical status.

Griffin was a full participant in practice Wednesday, and the Redskins feel confident he’ll be ready to go this weekend, but he’ll be evaluated Thursday and throughout the week because of the nature of his injury. With an lateral collateral ligament sprain, there can be swelling after physical activity.

But as of Wednesday afternoon, Griffin looked good to go.

“I was able to go through a full practice, so that was good,” Griffin said. “I feel good. It was exciting to get back out there and practice with everybody — get ready for the game.”

Griffin only participated in individual drills, and backup Kirk Cousins led the Redskins’ first-team offense through team drills.

Griffin said after Wednesday’s practice that his knee doesn’t feel weak or unstable, and that he has improved on a day-to-day basis. He added that if pressed, he believed he could’ve played last weekend.

“It is frustrating,” Griffin said. “Like I said, players play. I told them in the locker room when they told me that night, I would be upset. But once we step on the field, I was all for this team and all for Kirk. That’s the way you have to approach it. You don’t take those things to the field and try to become a cancer or a distraction to the team.”

Cousins said he’s preparing this week like he has during other weeks, though the obvious difference is there: Last week, he was be readied to start, and this week, that looks less likely.

The fourth-round draft pick also understands the chance that was presented to him as he tries to become an NFL starter, somewhere.

“I view every opportunity I get as a chance to sell myself to these coaches here in D.C. and to 31 other coaches, 31 other teams,” Cousins said. “That doesn’t just mean a regular-season game. That’s a preseason game, that’s practice reps, but every opportunity I get, I want to be full prepared for those moments when they come.”

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was non-committal on who’d start during his Wednesday news conference. But afterward, he emphasized that he feels confident with either guy and the system’s malleability to move from one quarterback to the other seamlessly.

“That’s our system,” Shanahan told “We have the ability to go a number of different ways. You just got to put together a game plan that best fits each guy.”

It’s not all business, though. This past weekend, the 31-year-old actress and hubby, Cash Warren, took their little girls, Honor and Haven, to the Happiest Place on Earth.

‘Pumped Up Kicks’ Yanked from L.A. Airwaves After Newtown Massacre

Posted on Dec 19, 2012

‘Pumped Up Kicks’
Yanked from L.A. Airwaves
After Newtown Massacre

Foster the People
‘s hit song “Pumped Up Kicks” — whose lyrics depict a violent school shooting – won’t be getting ANY airplay whatsoever in the wake of the Newtown massacre … at least on L.A.’s #1 hit music station.

Sources at KIIS-FM tell TMZ, the station has completely pulled “Pumped Up Kicks” from its rotation after the shooting at a Connecticut elementary school last week.

Foster the People frontman Mark Foster has said the song was written about a psychotic, homicidal youth to help bring awareness to gun violence in schools — and was partly inspired by the Columbine tragedy.

Here’s the song’s chorus — All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, outrun my gun. / All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

As we reported, Ke$ha’s song “Die Young” has also plummeted from the charts due to its inopportune lyrics.

Our sources say KIIS-FM hasn’t yet made a decision about yanking “Die Young” entirely — but “Pumped Up Kicks” is definitely off the air for the foreseeable future.

Scottie Pippen
Tallest ‘Christmas Carol’

Exclusive Details

Chicago Bulls
legend Scottie Pippen set a new record last week at a production of “A Christmas Carol” in the Windy City — playing the first ever 6’8″ 19th-century London townsman in the play — and it was all for a good cause.

The director of “A Christmas Carol” at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre tells TMZ, they created the role just for Pippen — “He is a business man in the town and he becomes a part of the crowd scenes where we celebrate Christmas morning.”

As you can see, Pippen blends right in.

The NBA icon made the special guest appearance as part of the Make-A-Wish program — taking the stage with a 7-year-old cancer patient who wants to be an actress.

The Kardashian-Jenner Clan Release Their 2012 Christmas Card

Posted on Dec 18, 2012

Posted Tuesday December 18, 2012 12:26 AM GMT

Getting into the holiday spirit, Kim Kardashian posted a picture of her family’s annual Christmas card on Monday (December 17).

The photo features the members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan all decked out in white while being surrounded by falling confetti.

Of the photo, the 32 year-old star wrote, “Here it is!! Our 2012 family Christmas card shot by the amazing Nick Saglimbeni! We had such a fun time shooting this! What do you think of the final pic??”

The reality family also kept Kim’s beloved and recently departed cat, Mercy, in the picture as a tribute. Although Mercy was lucky enough to make it in the photo, Khloe previously explained that getting the whole family together for a group shot can be difficult.

“I have to be Photoshopped in [this year],” KoKo told Ellen DeGeneres, adding, “We pretend that we’re always together, [but it's really] the power of cameras and Photoshop.”

Dallas Cowboys dump Pittsburgh Steelers with rally

Posted on Dec 17, 2012

The Dallas Cowboys suddenly have learned to win close games, and coach Jason Garrett is making all the right clock-management decisions.

In this long, winding NFL campaign, here’s a sentence no one saw coming at midseason: We have a three-way tie atop the NFC East.

The Cowboys outlasted the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 in overtime Sunday in one of the more entertaining, evenly matched games of the season. Both teams have struggled with injuries, especially on defense, but they attacked this game with the intensity of a playoff contest.

The Cowboys needed the win more, and they got it through excellent quarterback play and timely defense. Tony Romo threw for 341 yards without a turnover, and he came up with another fourth-quarter comeback. The Steelers’ offense moved the ball well during the middle portion of the game, having scored in four of their last five possessions going into the fourth quarter.

After that: Punt, punt and an interception to start overtime that essentially ended the game.

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr picked off a Ben Roethlisberger pass to start the extra session, setting up Dan Bailey’s game-winning field goal.

The Cowboys spent the first part of the season finding every imaginable way to lose. Now they are finding ways to pull out games. At 8-6, they still have a solid chance to win the NFC East or make the playoffs as a wild card.

The Steelers, meanwhile, have an uphill climb just to make the postseason at 7-7. They are 0-2 since Roethlisberger returned to the lineup. One more loss next week, and the Steelers’ season is over.

Report: Green Bay Packers to release Jermichael Finley

Posted on Dec 16, 2012

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finely has talked a lot about his lack of opportunities this season, calling himself the fourth option for Aaron Rodgers. It sounds like next year he won’t be an option at all.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the team “not only wants to get rid of Finley but has decided to do exactly that in the off-season.”

Lombardi: Don’t expand playoffs

If the team can’t find a trade partner, they will release Finley after signing him to a two-year, $14 million deal before the NFL Scouting Combine last February. Cutting Finley would be virtually painless for the team’s salary cap. He also is due no guaranteed money.

We highly recommend reading McGinn’s exhaustive and fascinating article. Much of it reads like a takedown of Finley’s disappointing season, from his poor blocking to his drops to his undisciplined route running and attitude. The team has reportedly also grown weary of Finley’s public comments and were said to be “livid” with Finley’s agent for tweeting that Aaron Rodgers was not a great leader.

“He’s that type of athlete that will fool people,” one scout told McGinn when asked about his trade or free agent value. “Unless you really, really dig and do your homework, and just look superficially, you’ll say all he needs is just a change of scenery.”

Perhaps this report was intended to be a wakeup call from the organization to Finley. But we don’t doubt the Packers have grown tired of Finley’s act.

With Greg Jennings also set to be a free agent, the Packers could look a lot different next season.

Canadian Lyndon Rush wins bobsled gold in France

Posted on Dec 15, 2012

Canada’s two-man bobsled team of Lyndon Rush and Jesse Lumsden earned their first gold medal of the World Cup season on Saturday, while teammate Sarah Reid won silver in women’s skeleton.

The duo posted the fastest times in both runs down the French Alps track for a combined time of two minutes 01.18 seconds. It was the third straight podium finish for Rush of Humboldt, Sask., and Lumsden of Burlington, Ont.

“We’ve been close all year, but it is so fun when you finally close the deal,” said Rush. “It is so hard to start on this track because it is really flat so it exposes the better athletes. Jesse is an unbelievable athlete and he did an incredible job carrying the load today.”

It was the fifth two-man and ninth overall World Cup medal for Rush, who won the four-man Olympic bronze medal in 2010.

Rush and Lumsden have combined to win five World Cup medals together, including two victories, in addition to sliding to the silver medal at last year’s World Championships.

Saturday’s gold, which is Rush’s third career two-man victory, brings the Canadian bobsled squads podium total to nine this year.

Switzerland’s Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann won the silver at 2:01.45, while Steven Holcomb and Steven Langton, of the U.S., grabbed the bronze with a time of 2:01.48.

Calgary’s Chris Spring and Edmonton’s Adam Rosenke finished 15th (2:02.27), while Justin Kripps of Summerland, B.C., and Sam Giguere of Sherbrooke, Que., placed 16th at 2:02.38.

Sarah Reid slides into silver

In women’s skeleton, Calgary’s Reid rocketed down the challenging 1,507-metre La Plagne track in a time of 2:08.71 to finish in a deadlock for second spot with Germany’s Marion Thees.

It capped a career-best first half of the season that saw her pick up one gold and two silver medals.

“I had two really good pushes and two good runs today,” said Reid, who grabbed her third and final Olympic qualifier this year. She will need one more top-six finish next season to punch her ticket to Sochi.

“This is a hard track to relax because it is a really busy track with high pressure corners, but I was able to relax today.”

American Katie Uhlaender finished on top of the podium with a time of 2:08.22.

Reid kicked off her dream pre-Olympic season on the World Cup by winning her first-ever race in Lake Placid, N.Y. Two weeks later, Reid plummeted down the Olympic track in Whistler to the silver and her second career World Cup medal.

“I do enjoy the more technical tracks for sure. I feel if I can relax I can do well,” said Reid, who is on a new on a new sled this year designed by British skeleton ace Kristan Bromley. “I think my new equipment has definitely played a difference this year. At the start of the season, I hoped for this, but I don’t think I expected it. After Lake Placid I was a lot more comfortable. It has been a lot of fun.”

Two-time World Cup champion, Mellisa Hollingsworth of Eckville, Alta., placed seventh at 2:09.53, while rookie Cassie Hawrysh of Brandon, Man., dropped out of the top-10, finishing 13th (2:10.06).

The first half of the World Cup season wraps up on Sunday in La Plagne with men’s four-man bobsled racing.

Darnell Dockett unsure about Arizona Cardinals future

Posted on Dec 15, 2012

Things have fallen apart for Darnell Dockett in Arizona. The defensive lineman was recently fined $200,000 for conduct detrimental to the team after he argued with teammate Kerry Rhodes and defensive coordinator Roy Horton during a loss to the Jets. He later said he would continue to play hard for Horton and his fellow defensive lineman, but gave a “no comment” when asked about coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Harrison: Week 15 predictions

Dockett was asked about the fine during an interview on XTRA 910 in Phoenix, via

“It was shocking. ‘Man did it come to this?’” Dockett said. “I guess they felt that’s what they had to do or whatever. I felt that it was unfair, I spoke on it, I felt it was out of my hands and I’m not really worried about it. I have a process going on.”

Dockett is in the middle of a six-year, $56 million deal signed in 2010, but he doesn’t know his future with the team will be.

“I have no idea,” Dockett said. “First of all I’m very thankful that the Arizona Cardinals have given me opportunities. … If I’m not wanted somewhere then I will be happy somewhere else or however that situation may go down. To all the Cardinals fans, this was not my idea of me being traded or people thinking I might be traded and I came up with this or I said this. I never said that, but at the end of the day I’m never going to be anywhere I’m not wanted or I’m not going to be somewhere I’m treated unfairly.”

Dockett said he hasn’t spoken to Whisenhunt and maybe they’ll have a conversation after the season.

The season just needs to end as soon as possible in Arizona. The front office has some major decisions to make on Whisenhunt, Dockett and the rest of the sub par roster.
